Just breezing through at the end of a long, busy, productive and satisfying weekend to share one of the many projects going on, and just a few of the many photos ready to come your way! In what seems like a past life, I sold private tours of Morocco, and Moroccan patterns seem to be in my head again these days. A few modern, clean, and colorful takes on a detail of a Moroccan pattern:
More photos soon, more projects to share, and more up on Etsy just as soon as I can manage it! These days to myself just can’t come soon enough!
New Water
By Sharon Chmielarz
All those years—almost a hundred—
the farm had hard water.
Hard orange. Buckets lined in orange.
Sink and tub and toilet, too,
once they got running water.
And now, in less than a lifetime,
just by changing the well’s location,
in the same yard, mind you,
the water’s soft, clear, delicious to drink.
All those years to shake your head over.
Look how sweet life has become;
you can see it in the couple who live here,
their calmness as they sit at their table,
the beauty as they offer you new water to drink.

Hi Maggie! I love the poem New Water (except the calmness part…that is something I strive for and will come…just gotta keep digging). I was delivering work to Campbell Steele yesterday and had the great opportunity to visit with your mom (and dad briefly). She showed me your work. It is beautiful. I bought a packet of the embossed thank you cards…easily the best and classiest thank yous that I have ever seen…so thanks for the thanks, and I am eager to send them. I enjoy your blog too…your mom recommended that I visit it. I will visit again. I just want to drop a note and wish you and Matt the best.

Thanks for the sweet words, Larry! Your words are entirely flattering and put me over the moon to read them! I love the work I’m doing (obviously!) and have lots more coming in the very near future. I’m thrilled that a set of cards went home with you and I hope you enjoy them. Your own new work is stunning as well - I had the chance to see at least a few shots on the Campbell Steele blog!
In the meantime, I’m sure we’ll both keep searching for that elusive calm in our busy work, knowing all the while that, really, things are much more fun and challenging when the balance tips more toward chaos and calm, anyway.
